Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup – Preliminary Regatta Napoli

Starting September 23, with the kickoff of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup – Preliminary Regatta Naples, the ItaliaMeteo Agency will begin providing weather forecasts, following a recent agreement between the Agency and Sport e Salute S.p.A.
On this page, hourly weather forecasts for the city of Naples will be available every morning throughout the event, covering the current day and the following two days. In addition, the Agency’s daily forecasts will be displayed each day on the giant screens in the Fan Zone, which is open to all visitors.
In addition, the Agency’s forecasters will provide operational support throughout the event, using forecasts generated through nowcasting techniques.
This service is provided by ItaliaMeteo’s meteorologists using an X-band radar, installed specifically for this purpose, and an automatic monitoring station located at the Navy Headquarters in Naples.
Forecasts of surface ocean currents in the regatta area are also available. These forecasts have been developed in collaboration with ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), using the ENEA MITO and SHYFEM models, driven by meteorological data from the SKIRON model and specifically adapted to the event area.
